Forum Sig

How to make a sig with a transparent background:

Step 1: Create a new workspace. Make sure that the background is set to transparent. I'll set the size to what I want my finish product to be, in this case 150 x 650. The Resolution can be set to 72 px for web use. Any higher resolution will increase the file size and is not neccessary.

Step 2: Make your image however you want it. I brought in one of my woodie chops. You can move the layers from top to bottom using Ctrl+[ for down, and Ctrl+] for up one layer

Step 3: Here's with a few things added. The black border I made with the shape tool and set the layer below the car. The ocean pic was a random pic I had that I cropped down with the Rectangular Marquee tool. Select the Inverse, then Deleted the excess.

Step 4: Once you're done, use Save for Web (Cntrl+Alt+Shift+S). Save it as a GIF file. To bring down the file size, you can change the Lossy value, but this dramatically reduces the quality of the image.

Step 5: Go to your image hosting site. I like to use Imageshack. Upload your image. Copy the code for the Direct Link to Image.

Step 6: Log in to your forum account and go to Quick Links > Edit Signature. Use the [img]Your-direct-link-code-pasted-here[/img] code to place your image.

Now you can make all your fellow members jealous now that you have the coolest sig on the block.
